Ward Manager - AMU Epsom Hospital

The expectations within this job description will be met through professionalleadership, clinical management, hands on clinical practice, education andtraining, and research.The post holder will ensure that high quality nursing care is delivered withintheir designated clinical area.The post holder will assist in setting the standards of clinical practice, inconjunction with the multidisciplinary team, and will monitor patient outcomes.The post holder will have ongoing responsibility for the operationaleffectiveness of their designated clinical area, being present in their clinicalarea, in conjunction with the Clinical Matron.Duties of the PostThe post of a qualified nurse is characterised by six principle role functions:- Clinical Practice- Advanced Clinical skills- Professional leadership and management- Education research training and development- Evaluation of care and research- Human ResourcesThe balance between practice and management will vary according to day to daypriorities, but
will be negotiated overall with the Matron and Head of Nursing.

The Acute Medical Unit currently has 34 beds specialising in caring for the acutely unwell patients. We have a clear and ambitious vision to provide outstanding patient care and we would like you to be a part of this success.

All staff members are encouraged to develop and excel in their roles and we offer support within the unit to to achieve this. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, both clinical and leadership and will be supported by the ward based clinical matron and highly visible senior leadership team.
