Full Job Description
An exciting new role has become available for a permanent Ward Manager for our Neurosurgical High Care Unit within the Neurosurgical Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for a resilient and enthusiastic individual who can provide leadership and management of a busy Neurosurgical Ward and who can champion the vision and values of the Trust.
Within this leadership role you will need passion and drive to lead and develop a team of nurses who provide the highest quality care to their patients. Working clinically alongside your staff on the ward you will provide clear senior presence and visibility. You will champion the Trust values and have the courage to challenge poor practice but also celebrate success with your team.
You will be expected to both manage the ward effectively and provide clinical leadership to the nursing staff. By being a positive role model you will ensure delivery of an efficient, safe and high quality care is given to all patients on the ward.
Do you have excellent customer care, communication and interpersonal skills and be flexible and able to adapt to and support change in this developing environment?
You must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of a unit in an effective and efficient manner. You will be a clinical role model and have a willingness to develop the team as well as your own professional growth. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
You must have recent experience of working in a senior nurse role within Neurosurgery and must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills in caring for patients. You will be knowledgeable regarding the speciality, plus fully understand governance and its importance in promoting and maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff and proactively monitor and feedback compliance.

Is responsible for ensuring the productive operation of the ward through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment and by using processes designed to increase the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients.
