An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time receptionist post on Cardiac intensive care unit NUH City Campus.
CICU is a 16 bedded cardiac surgical ward which cares for patients admitted post cardiac surgery.
We are a busy ward who admits patients undergone cardiac surgery , ED and at times from another wards or hospitals making the reception role ever changing and always a varied workload.

City campus at NUH has now received its Magnet status, we as a trust are keen to teach and educate our staff.
We want to recruit and retain the staff, which we do very well in Cardiac surgery .
We are one trust that is split between two campus's but work well and closely together ensuring our patients receive the correct treatment and care in the correct ward/settings.
We adhere to the trusts set values and behaviours which can be found on the intranet., Complete the necessary documentation and data inputs for the admission, transfer and discharge of patients. Using the Medway and Nerve Centre systems check the ward bed state and record all patient activity.
Whilst the patient is on the ward, create and maintain Patient Case Notes following procedures, regularly check patient records to ensure that all loose papers, history sheets, investigation reports have been appropriately secured and filed in the correct order. If the case notes leave the ward with the patient during investigations, ensure that the notes are returned.
When a patient is transferred or discharged, ensure that the case notes are complete and all loose papers have been filed in order and GP copies of discharge summaries are sent out. When the patients are transferred or discharged record movements in the case note tracking system on Medway.
Provide a courteous reception and telephone service to patients, visitors, carers and other users.
Assist the ward team in providing a welcoming environment for all newly admitted patients and their families and friends. Facilitate communication with all the care professionals, service departments and relevant parties, receiving and relaying messages and other information.

You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information accurately.
Candidates should have the ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a busy clinical environment. You will present a professional and polite attitude at all times.
You must be educated to GCSE standard, possess a good telephone manner and be competent in the use of computers systems including Microsoft packages, Medway, and NOTIS. Training and a supernumerary period will be offered.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

ID and Right to work checks: NUH authenticate ID and right to work documentation including passports and driving licenses through a system called Trust ID. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

+ Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
+ Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
