Full Job Description

  • Lead and manage the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the unit, coordinating patient assessments and managing the flow of admissions.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to staff, promoting best practices and patient safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and effective surgical triage services., Act as team leader.
  • Participate in the supervision of junior nurses and unregistered staff.
  • Report all accidents/untoward incidents and ensuring relevant documentation is completed.
  • Undertake delegated responsibilities from the Ward Manager.
  • Develop an awareness of the cost implications and exercise economy when using or ordering medical supplies.
  • Participate in the investigation of complaints and incidents.
  • Participate in the promotion of safety, well-being and interests of the patients, staff, and all visitors to the clinical area.
  • Participate in the appraisal system.
  • Responsible for assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Assist in developing an environment that supports the value of nursing care.
  • Carry out clinical duties in accordance with National, Trust and local standards and policies.
  • Advise patients/clients about health promotion and prevention of illness.
  • Take responsibility for the correct use and operation of medical equipment in accordance with relevant Trust and national guidance.
  • Assist in monitoring standards of care within the Trust's Governance Framework and agreed priorities, contributing to audit where possible.

    A passion for leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in General Surgery is desirable but not essential.
