Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a band 7 ward sister/Charge Nurse to lead a caring and compassionate team specialising in the delivery of Respiratory services within Colchester Hospital.

We provide the highest quality of nursing care to both male and female patients, with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The ward is a 33 bedded ward that includes a 4 bedded acute respiratory care unit, caring for patients that require advanced respiratory nursing support including non-invasive ventilation, CPAP and HFNO.

The applicant must be enthusiastic and motivated to lead in a busy acute environment. They should also have excellent written and oral communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise workload, be an effective, approachable leader and have a history of managing change and developing a safety culture and promote harm free care.

To provide direction and leadership to the nursing team.

To implement and manage effective change management.

Establish and maintain effective professional networking relationships with the multi-professional team across ESNEFT.

To take operational responsibility for the effective utilisation of all appropriate resources.

To work closely with the MDT and educational teams in the overall delivery of an integrated acute respiratory service.

To deputise in the absence of the Matron.
