Full Job Description

As the Warehouse Shift Manager you will be responsible for managing and leading the Perishables warehouse operations team ensure everyone in your team is focused on QSHE, Continuous improvement and customer centricity, exhibiting Kuehne + Nagel behaviours consistently to deliver shipments on-time, in good order and work collaboratively with all with all other physical operations (Gateway, Retail & Transport) to achieve the shared aim of consistently excellent service delivery. This role is working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with working hours from 8pm - 8am,

  • With support of 1 team leader will have full responsibility for managing a team of up to 30 warehouse colleagues including permanent and agency staff
  • Responsible for Inbound and Outbound Cargo Flows, Manpower, Equipment & Inventory to ensure costs optimization and deliver consistently excellent service.
  • Responsible and accountable for the day to day management of the operation and ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate cost effective way.
  • To effectively people manage and carry out procedures relating to absence management and general operational HR administrative duties
  • Take ownership for rapid resolution of all operational issues, communicate regularly all stakeholders and ensure all issues are managed according to SLA.
  • To ensure effective performance management and identify training requirements for current level of responsibilities and also to meet the requirements of Kuehne + Nagel's management succession plans in line with required behaviours
  • Ensure that a thorough and comprehensive induction is carried out for all colleagues using the appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure the warehouse operates in full compliance to relevant ISO 9001 standards, K+N Quality Management System and any customer specific requirements. To create and maintain an environment for continuous improvement. Ensure all processes, space and workload are planned to achieve full efficiency / optimization
  • To ensure that a clear communication strategy is developed and executed i.e. conducting and recording pre shift, completing relevant and clear shift handovers walk arounds, and participation in Department and / or Branch meetings.
  • Provide regular communications via staff briefings and ensure all relevant briefing are signed by all colleagues (as applicable) and retained for quality compliance purposes.

    Previous experience in managing a warehouse operations preferably at Shift Manager or higher level
  • Excellent knowledge of airfreight warehousing ideally with a background in a freight/logistics or Airline / Cargo operations would be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of Pharma & Healthcare supply chain requirements
  • Good knowledge of GDP / GMP
  • Extensive experience in Air Logistics industry and in-depth knowledge of Air Logistics products
  • Demonstrable People Management skills - know how to motivate a team to consistently deliver excellent results.
  • You'll need to be able to work under pressure and solve problems, so a calm, methodical and organised approach will stand you in good stead.
  • Good communication skills and customer focused with a proven record of exceeding customer expectations
