Full Job Description
As the Waste Disposal Lead for the Waste Services team, you will lead on securing and managing multiple waste treatment contracts, including the brokering of various recyclates. Join one of the best performing councils in England and be an integral part of the Waste Services team, where you will help ensure that waste is treated, increasing recycling rates and helping deliver a leading waste service for the residents of South Gloucestershire. What you will be doing:
- Leading on the contract management and administration of waste treatment contracts for the council, you will arrange for the safe and efficient reception, transfer and treatment of wastes.
- You will lead on the sale and supply of materials, including market analysis and monitoring, engaging the market for prices, arranging collections, administering payments, contract management, audits and contract administration.
- It will be your responsibility to develop, operate and monitor robust and consistent systems for monitoring and auditing waste treatment contracts and material flows for the council.
- Working closely with other sections of the Waste Services team, you will drive quality of materials, increase recycling and maximise revenues.
- Taking the lead on waste treatment procurement activities, scoping the service and works, the preparation of tender documents, placing procurement notices, managing tendering processes, assisting with tendering communications, tendering reviews, approvals and awards. What we need from you
It is essential that you have an in-depth knowledge of current national and EU waste management policies, waste management legislation, waste treatment methods and waste operations developed through direct experience of working in the waste industry. - You must have significant experience in developing procurement routes and managing contracts of various sizes and complexities, ideally in a waste environment.
- We require you to have experience in contract monitoring, reporting, administering and recording contractual and contractor performance.
- You will be experienced in conducting tender processes that comply with procurement legislation, ideally within a Contracting Authority and ideally with waste treatment related contracts., You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
