Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator - If you are a dedicated and skilled Industrial Equipment Mechanic with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshoot and repair single and multiple feed of potable and non-potable treatment works and systems. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for starting, operating, adjusting, and stop single or multiple Wastewater Treatment processes and equipment in a controlled compound. You will maintain, repair, test, plan and lay out installation, repair, and/or modification a variety of complex equipment and systems. You will troubleshoot single and multiple points of system failure on plant and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment. In this position you will utilize established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain safe and clean work environment. You may be occasionally exposed to communicable disease or infectious matter when changing filters, position will also be required a pre-employment physical that also includes immunizations. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0730-1600 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
As the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will be required to have a City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 2 in an appropriate discipline . You will show skill in troubleshooting complex problems through application of prescribed test procedures and equipment, and skill in the use of measuring instruments such as gauges, meters, recorders, analog displays, and computergenerated data to determine operational status and make necessary adjustments. You will have the ability to interpret diagrams, drawings, operating manuals, or special facility procedures to be followed during emergencies, equipment failures, or system malfunctions as well as ability to operate auxiliary equipment and pollution control equipment; to operate wastewater and water treatment plants using computer-controlled equipment; and to perform preventive maintenance and various operational repairs. You will show knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures and knowledge of technical practices to perform various operational repairs and preventive maintenance on Wastewater treatment equipment and, auxiliary, and pollution control equipment; water plant equipment including single or multiple stage treatment plant, auxiliary pollution control; and other auxiliary equipment. Qualification requirements:
- City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 2 in an appropriate discipline
- You will be required to drive a and operate a motor vehicle; an appropriate valid driving license CAT B will be required. Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required. Certification may be required by federal or local regulatory agency. May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
