Expressions of interest are welcomed from those candidates who are currently in the role of Watch commander or have been successful in a Watch Commmander promotion process for the role of Watch Commander Control in Joint Fire Control.

The Role
Joint Fire Control (JFC) are responsible for the delivery of call handling and mobilising services on behalf of Surrey, East and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Services. Watch Commanders perform a vital role within JFC, leading others to deliver excellent performance and supporting middle management to deliver against a demanding agenda.
Joint Fire Control Watch Commander's use Intelligence-led decision making, discretion and initiative to ensure all types of incidents reported to the fire service in both Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex are resolved in the best manner. They train and support their staff to ask relevant questions of the callers to help make decisions about the type and number of resources that would be able to resolve the incident as quickly and effectively as possible.
The role of the Watch Commander in JFC involves working within the recognised policies and procedures for both Surrey Fire & Rescue Service, ESFRS and WSFRS. Decisions are made in line with these policies, but there is also autonomy to make decisions based on information gathered, the current operational tempo and available resources, which may result in using operational discretion to resolve the many enquiries that come through JFC.
In this role you will be Reporting to the SC Lorraine Coppard
The role will be based at JFC, Salfords, to provide leadership and support as appropriate.
