  • Offering academic enrichment activities for the most able pupils, particularly but not
  • exclusively in the Sixth Form
  • Arranging a programme of talks by visiting speakers, students and colleagues for the Sixth Form
  • English Society
  • Preparing L6th candidates for university application
  • Assisting members of the department in researching and resourcing texts

    There is lots of scope for the candidate to develop their own initiatives: recent Waynflete Academics
  • have run creative writing workshops and medieval and postcolonial reading groups, for example. Awillingness to contribute to the School's extensive partnerships programme is desirable, as is awillingness to take on extra paid hours to assist with internal exam marking at certain points in the year.The role is likely to be the equivalent of half a day per week which is 0.15 of a Full Time Equivalent. Thesalary for this position will likely to be £3,638 per annum (£24,255 FTE).

    Magdalen College School, Oxford, founded by William Waynflete in 1480 is one of the country's leadingindependent schools. Each year we employ a small number of graduates, doctoral and post-doctoralresearchers, in a part-time capacity, to provide up-to-date, scholarly and expert knowledge as part ofour Waynflete Studies programme. Recent appointees have found the role fits well alongside theircurrent research commitments. We are looking to appoint a Waynflete Academic in English tocommence in January 2025 and to continue throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
