  • Why is this a crucial role?

Without community carers the NHS crumbles. Abuse goes unnoticed, people have more falls an injury with no support, peoples mental health plummets because they have no one to speak to. People bed block in hospital because there are no care packages to discharge them safely to their home where they long to be. You are needed to make a difference and the misconception that carers are brew makers must change, MoralCare is making a difference to the sector, but we need your support to do it!

    Lets play MYTHBUSTERS!

DID YOU KNOW? The average daily work commute in the North West is 20 miles? Our community carers travel only 10 miles per shift. Our carers are paid for all miles they cover, PLUS we pay them for their travelling TIME whilst they drive to their next job - that means getting paid to bop away to some music or make a hands-free personal call. One of the many MoralCare perks!

MYTH: Care work is a low paid and unappreciated job.
BUSTED: We pay £11.05ph + mileage! We work on the front line with our team and make sure staff satisfaction is one of our main priorities. Managers and our services users appreciate the front line to no end - including the public! One of our carers had a chocolate bar left on their windscreens by a member of public to thank them for their service.

MYTH: I'll have a different rota every week. I won't be able to plan my life around it.
BUSTED: We have a CONTRACTED shift schedule so carers know when they're working, and when they're not!

MYTH: I will be unsupported by management and expected to do things they wouldn't dream of doing.
BUSTED: Our managers work on the front line and have a zero tolerance policy to poor treatment to our front line heroes.

MYTH: I'll be sent to the moon and back, and be expected to do it in 5 minutes.
BUSTED: All of our jobs are within Morecambe and are in exceptionally close range, tight knit bubbles.

MYTH: I'll be sent to places I dont know and service users I wont know.
BUSTED: We ensure you meet all service users during shadowing. When new service users join us, all staff members get a brief and access to a fully comprehensive care plan before the commencement of care.

MYTH: I'll have to count every single mile to make sure I get paid for it. I'll forget and miss out on miles!
BUSTED: We have an app that automatically clocks you in and out of people homes and calculates your mileage for you, dont worry about that little pin on your dashboard ever again!

MYTH: I wont be supported, left to my own devices and snapped at by management when I need help.
BUSTED: We have a fully supportive management system and we have all the time in the world for all carers. We aren't businessman, we are carers too. We operate a no blame culture, we are all about a learning culture!

MYTH: I'll have to pay for my uniform.
BUSTED: We provide 2 uniforms, an ID, a torch, a CPR mask, a car first aid kit - all FREE of charge.

MYTH: I'll have to do training outside of my schedule when I had plans.
BUSTED: We have a lot of online training modules, you're paid to do them in the comfort of your own home, when it suits you!

MYTH: I'll get a zero hour contract
BUSTED: No! You cant get a mortgage on a zero hour contract! We offer minimum hour insurance to give you and prospective lenders peace of mind.

MYTH: I'll get a set hour contract and be forced to come in on my day off to fulfill my hours if sa service user cancels.
BUSTED: Not true! We have minimum hour clause, that means you get paid [X] amount of hours even if ALL your service users cancel (highly unlikely). It could mean you get paid for not even working! We also have online training modules to top up your wage if you fancy it.

MYTH: Care companies employ anyone with a pair of legs. I'll be tarnished as an unprofessional worker because my colleagues will not be skilled or care about the job.
BUSTED: All of our team are skilled, friendly, passionate and kind. Your colleagues are all professionals, just like you.

MYTH: MoralCare was started to make money
BUSTED: MoralCare started because the managers found themselves to be always complaining at their previous jobs that quality of care just wasn't up to standard, so they started their own company to make a difference and provide care as it should, without the smoke and mirrors. We do not accept care packages if it means any carers rushing. Every care package is carefully implemented to ensure carers have the time to give people care.
