Full Job Description

You will take responsibility for engineering repair, corrective and planned preventative maintenance of the site during Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. You will be expected to react to the workload required to meet your day-to-day engineering tasks and activities required to ensure plant and machinery is effectively maintained. The Weekend Engineer role will provide key operational engineering support to deliver performance and engineering KPI's. You will be expected to escalate breakdowns in a timely manner and inform all stakeholders of the completion of work on any escalated incident. You will be expected to work closely with the Engineering Management team to contribute and assist with the development of our people, processes and systems to deliver reliable and stable performance of the Engineering function. Complete the PPM schedules in a timely manner and react to breakdowns as they occur. Complete the daily steam boiler checks to ensure compliance and highlight any issues and/or risks immediately. What you'll do:

  • Manage your own workload and ensure that work is completed to the standard required and any work outstanding is continued by the following shift. Be comfortable as a single person team who will be working Saturday and Sunday as the engineering point of contact for site.
  • Complete the work that comes from Audits, Work Requests and PPM follow ups - all through the engineering CMMS.
  • Ensure you apply Health and Safety and Food Safety standards to all work undertaken, including lone working which will be supported via Blackline devices.
  • Support all staff within the site and ensure targets/kpi's are achieved.
  • Manage Health and Safety of external contractors on site when required and ensure those areas are clean and tidy upon completion, including but not limited to, permit control, RAMS and LOTOTO
  • Ensure all machinery/equipment meets site standards and all sub conditions are dealt with or escalated accordingly.
  • Control and manage the ordering and quantity of engineering spares to ensure effective stock levels.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all engineering areas.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of management and all departments in relation to any engineering activities and breakdowns.
  • Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regard the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 or Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order SI 1978/1039:
  • Take reasonable care for your own and other's health and safety while at work.
  • Co-operate with your employer on health and safety matters.
  • Anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare must not be intentionally or recklessly interfered with or misused.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance to company policies, procedures, site rules and information and instruction given by your employer.

  • Minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification

  • Experience with Steam Boilers accompanied by SOBA and/or BOAS accreditation.
