Full Job Description

We're seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Tenancy Sustainment Team as a Welcome Caseworker. This is a new role where you'll lead on initial assessment of new clients into our service, delivering strengths-based and person-centred support to people moving into their own home for the first time. Your mission will be to co-produce support with new clients, enabling people to have a positive and empowered start to their support journey with us.

About the role:

The Welcome Team is a new service within our Tenancy Sustainment Team (North), and lead on initially assessing and triaging the needs of new clients who are referred into the service. Where clients are due to move into their own home, the Welcome Team offer pre-tenancy and move-in support to clients, enabling clients to resettle into their new homes successfully. Our key aims are to maximise opportunities for successful tenancy sustainment, support clients to develop their resilience and independence, and equip clints to successfully move on to longer term independent accommodation within 2 years.

As the Welcome Caseworker you'll lead on delivering initial assessments with new clients. You'll identify the needs that clients may have in improving their physical and mental health, reducing their isolation, and in maximising their income and financial resilience. Working together with clients and partner services, you'll agree an initial support and safety plan with new clients, identifying SHP and community services and resources that can help clients to meet their goals and aspirations, and connecting clients to these services.

You'll assist new clients to resettle into independent accommodation, delivering practical support including with paying rent / bills, setting up and managing utilities, and liaising with housing providers. You'll also support relevant Team Managers, in providing guidance and advice to colleagues, gaining feedback from new clients about our service, and in contributing towards continued service development, improvement and innovation

  • Understanding of clients' needs and aspirations, and ability to identify and assess clients' needs using a strengths-based and person-centred approach

  • Understanding, experience or willingness to learn in supporting clients to improve and better manage their physical and mental health and wellbeing

  • Strong team-working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a collaborative approach to delivering service objectives

  • Strong time management skills, ability to work on own initiative, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards

  • An understanding of the principles of planned support and working with people with lived experience of homelessness

  • An understanding of the principles underlying a quality and customer focussed service with the proven ability to empower service users

  • The ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need

    Our attractive benefits package includes:
