Full Job Description

JDR Cables are currently seeking a Welding Engineer (Welding and Materials) to join our team as a subject matter expert. The Welding Engineer (Welding & Materials) will collaborate with Sales, Tendering, Development, Project, Design, Operations, and Service teams, providing technical support throughout the product life cycle. Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Develop and deliver a welding engineering strategy to achieve company business goals
  • Implement and sustain Welding & Fabrication Standards to reflect latest requirements applicable to national and international codes of practise. This includes completing surveillance checklists and audits on internal welding activities to maintain our BS EN ISO 3834-2 Certification.
  • Participate in the technical evaluations and compliance audits of welding and fabrication vendors and service providers to provide assurance of competence and conformance to company, national and international standards and UK legislative requirements
  • Prepare welding documentation for specialised welding activities
  • Provide advice to assurance welding inspectors on any welding inspection queries or issues arising
  • Evaluation of fabricated equipment for compliance with project materials, coating, NDE and welding requirements.
  • Review and approval of Supplier NDE, Coating and PMI documentation.

    Ideally, you should have significant experience in engineering, designing, and delivering Oil and Gas or Renewable Energy equipment, demonstrating technical competence, achievement, and professional conduct. With a relevant degree (MSc, MEng, BSc, BEng) and IEng or CEng status, you should also hold an International/European Welding Engineer certification. Strong communication skills, practical application of theory, and thorough knowledge of welding fabrication codes and standards, with the ability to write, check, and approve technical reports, are essential.
