Full Job Description

You will play an important role in helping residents to maintain their independence by assessing entitlement to Concessionary Travelcards, Blue Badge permits and to determine eligibility for Welfare Grant awards. You will make a difference by helping vulnerable residents in an emergency by helping them access immediate financial support through our Welfare Grant Scheme.
What will you be doing?

  • You will undertake eligibility assessments and deal with associated queries for the Blue Badge, Concessionary Travel and Welfare Grant schemes.


  • It will be key for you to give advice to applicants, their representatives, and other parties on issues regarding the three schemes administered by the team. You'll participate in the improvement of policies, processes and documentation.


  • Day to day you will support customers with specific service processes and procedures, ensuring that clear information is provided, service activities are supported and routine problems are resolved.


  • You will be liaising with internal teams and external organisations to ensure we are working together to provide the best form of support for our residents.


  • It will be your responsibility to collate and maintain records, databases and documents and analyse information to ensure accurate statements are produced and data is retrieved from computerised systems and interpreted.


  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

  • It is essential you have an NVQ 2 or 3 GCSE's grades C or above, or demonstrable administrative experience.


  • You will be able to understand, interpret and explain complex legislation and policies.


  • Due to the nature of the role, you should have the ability to plan, undertake high volumes of work and make balanced judgements.


  • You will have knowledge of Microsoft based applications.


  • We require you have have excellent customer care and communication skills, both written and verbal.

    Interviews are likely take place on 17th & 18th July 2024 at our Badminton Road Offices, although we can accommodate a Teams interview if requested.

    Ideally the working pattern will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, but alternative working patterns will be considered.
    Salary is pro-rated to hours worked.
