Working as part of a small team you will be responsible for the delivery of a range of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HS&W) activities.
Under the direction of the team lead, you will work collaboratively in a number of areas, maintaining day to day oversight of issues, giving service users the right advice and guidance, and advocating a positive HS&W culture across the organisation.
Communications are a key element of this role, and you will need to be an effective and confident communicator who is able to proactively engage, across all levels of the business.
Note: the successful candidate will be expected to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota for out of hours support for lone working. This will be on a one in three/two in six basis and an on-call allowance is provided.

You can also view our careers page at Civil Service Careers, You need to demonstrate a good understanding of wellbeing issues and solutions, and we anticipate you will have worked previously in this area and have the experience to understand business needs and interpret these into effective policy and processes. You must be willing to undertake a NEBOSH health and safety qualification.
You will need to demonstrate that you can work own your own initiative on a day-to-day basis. As you will be working closely with customers across the organisation, your application should evidence your passion for colleague wellbeing and how you have used your skills to make improvements in this area to support and resolve wellbeing issues and solve problems through the provision of advice and taking effective action.
To be effective in the role you need to have good communication skills. You will need to demonstrate your ability to provide wellbeing advice and solutions, in a straightforward and impactful way so that it influences people to take the correct course of action.
It is also important that you can work collaboratively, within the team and more widely across the business, so we will be looking to understand how you maintain effective relationships with a range of customers and stakeholders to bring about desired outcome and promote wellbeing throughout the organisation.
This is a wide-ranging role – no two days are the same – and as the Planning Inspectorate is a relatively small organisation you will be involved across the spectrum of activities, such as:
+ The development and implementation of a wellbeing strategy
+ Giving advice and guidance to managers and staff from across the organisation on the management of wellbeing related issues
+ Responding to wellbeing related queries on the People Unit management system
+ Carrying out display screen assessments (DSE), making recommendations for solutions and processing requests for ergonomic equipment
+ Manage day to day queries relating the Occupational Health and EAP services and liaising with the service providers as necessary
+ Support day to day management of stress management in the organisation, implementing the stress action plan
+ Providing out of hours support, on rota, and where required making decisions and escalating issues and incidents
+ Collating and analysing wellbeing statistics e.g., accident reports, relevant sickness data, to identify trends and make recommendations
+ Ensuring personal and organisational data is managed in line with organisational policies and procedures
+ Contributing to the development of strategic initiatives for the HS&W team, and wider, for example to playing a part in how the People Unit strategic planning through the contribution of thoughts and ideas

Office Attendance
This role is contractually based at Temple Quay House, Bristol which is currently out of use due to undergoing refurbishment work. In the interim, we have the use of alternative office space in very close proximity to Bristol Temple Meads railway station.
