Full Job Description
- Work collaboratively to uphold and embed to the school's vision of raising aspirations and fulfilling potential of our young people
- Champion an environment that is safe and emotionally secure, demonstrating empathy, adaptability and resilience in meeting and supporting the emotional needs of our young people
- Act as an advocate of the school's policies, particularly those relating to safeguarding and behaviour, taking a supportive and versatile approach, using a variety of techniques to support positive emotional regulation, to maintain a positive learning environment
- Ensure that Aspris policies and procedures are followed, in particular, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of recording activity related to the young person.
- Promote independent learning, self-esteem, and emotional regulation among students
- Demonstrate a commitment to regular training, both mandatory and CPD in order to enhance understanding of additional needs and behavioural challenges and ensure that we can provide an individual approach to support for each young person, that leverages a range of adaptable, proven techniques
- Support our young people in managing their additional needs, enabling them to effectively access education and develop their personal emotional resilience
- Provide emotional guidance during crises, employing de-escalation strategies, ensuring that we invest in both preventative and early intervention strategies, based on our knowledge of each young person and Aspris commitment to an individual approach to their needs
- Deliver intervention sessions as directed by the Pastoral Manager
- Assist young people in identifying and managing their emotions to develop self-help strategies
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of students, acting as a source of advice on safety and safeguarding
- Work collaboratively with all colleagues, in particular teaching colleagues, in managing incidents, offering advice on effective behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- Assist in implementing individual pupil plans, including pastoral support plans and behaviour contracts
- Contribute to the design and delivery of staff CPD sessions focused on behaviour for learning, SEND and strategies relating to the Aspris modalities
- Parental and External Liaison
- Foster strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies, in order to build a robust understanding of young person needs, promoting confidence in our school commitment and delivery and build a collaborative approach to outcomes
