These positions have been classed as anywhere worker roles but have an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office, in Chelmsford, 4 days per month, with the remaining time allowing for remote working if desired.

Are you ready to create positive change and be part of something bigger? As we embark on the next phase of our 5-year Business Plan, the Wellbeing, Public Health, and Communities Team is seeking passionate individuals to join us.

The Opportunity

We have two new public health officer roles which will play a very important part within the wellbeing, public health and communities team, supporting the delivery of our 5-year business plan.

The post holders will work flexibly across the wellbeing, public health and communities team to ensure we meet our ambitions for Essex residents to live healthier and more fulfilling lives - no matter their age, background or current circumstances. This includes, for example the successful delivery of priority projects aimed at supporting children and young people, building resilient and active communities and helping equip people to make healthier lifestyle choices. The postholders will lead on project planning and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that priority projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and to cost- whilst also ensuring that key public health principles such as assessment of need, reviewing evidence, engaging citizens and evaluation are met.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with team members to clearly define projects, plan timelines, identify risks, map and engage stakeholders

  • Supports the practical delivery of priority projects through leading on a range of activities such as organising meetings, taking and monitoring actions, producing minutes of meetings, drafting project documents and presentations, arranging stakeholder workshops, and producing action plans.

  • Co-ordinating team members, experts and external stakeholders to ensure that actions are progressed, and necessary work delivered in a timely fashion.

  • Monitoring the performance of projects to ensure they are on track to be delivered on time and to cost as well as delivering desired outcomes.

  • Work in collaboration with partner organisations to deliver integrated activity and highlight any further opportunities and efficiencies that can achieved.

  • Support the delivery of specific projects and activities that further the continuous improvement ethos of high performing, sustainable and cost-effective services or place shaping activities and develop cross functional links.

  • Supports the development of, and use, of a range of tools and techniques that ensure activity is consistent, effective, and efficient and that an audit trail is maintained.

    Educated to A level standard or equivalent by experience.

  • Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas.

  • Knowledge of Public Health or related activity service/function area, and project experience.

  • Experience of working in a complex partnership environment.


  • Desirable:
  • Experience of monitoring financial information in relation to Grants, contracting and commissioning.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Evidence of working well with others across a range of different projects.

  • Experience of working in the public sector or large complex organisations.

  • Experience of managing projects
