Full Job Description

Salford Wheelchair Service provides life enhancing specialist wheelchair seating and equipment to the people of Salford by helping them to regain or attain as much independence as they can in their own home, at work or in school. Our therapists do this by working with people and their carers to assess and understand how seating may encourage and support people to carry out daily living skills and enhance their quality of life.
You will be working along side Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehab techs as part of the team in schools, clinics and in a person's home, to carry out environmental assessments as well as taking telephone referral for the service, supporting equipment audits, ordering of stock and ensuring the smooth hand over of wheelchairs and related equipment to adults and older people.
You will be fully trained to assist people to meet their care needs, which can range from motivational support to personal care and promptly alert the team where there are any changes in the person's health and wellbeing or any possible risks.
You will have previous experience within a health and or social care environment ideally including community and/or hospital experience.
You will be able to deliver a high standard of evidence based individual care, have excellent interpersonal skills to enable you to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and be flexible to meet the needs of a 7 day service., As a large NHS trust we are committed to enhancing the health of our local population by delivering consistently high standards of care and working closely with local authorities and key partners. WILL CONSIDER BAND 3'S WITH CONSIDERABLE THERAPY EXPERIENCE AND WILLING TO UNDERTAKE ASSISTANT PRACTITIONER TRAINING AS PER BELOW, OR BAND 4S WHO HAVE ALREDY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED TRAINING.
TO UNDERTAKE AN UNDERGRADUATE TRAINING PROGRAMME OVER 2 YEARS. AT THE END OF THE 1ST YEAR THE POSTHOLDER WILL HAVE GAINED ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE EQUIVALENT TO AN NVQ LEVEL 3, PROGRESSING TO YEAR 2 TO ACHIEVE A FOUNDATION DEGREE.
