Individuals need to be able to work with minimal direct supervision, requiring independent decision making and initiative, with a high degree of flexibility to meet the needs of the service. They also need to be able to correctly interpret information received from the team, be able to work as part of a team, be organised and prioritise incoming demands. We are looking for someone with good communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills with the ability to gain rapport at all levels demonstrating empathy, understanding and discretion when dealing with service users. Also, a proven ability to use tools with dexterity and co-ordination to carry out fine adjustments of a wide variety of wheelchairs and related equipment is necessary with the capability of moderate to heavy lifting and handling, ensuring that all functions are carried out efficiently. The successful applicant will be offered a structured and mentored period of training, including active encouragement for
continuous professional development through attendance on specialist courses.

We are looking to recruit a Wheelchair Repair Technician/Storekeeper who has the enthusiasm and drive to assist in providing and improving services for users. We require individuals with a good general education to NVQ3 level in a relevant Mechanical/Electrical Discipline, or equivalent, along with basic computer knowledge. The post holder will work as an active member of the Service to provide a high quality, efficient and effective support to a Multi Disciplinary Clinical Team. They will carry out comprehensive repairs, maintenance and modifications of manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment, including postural seating, along with storekeeping support to the Shropshire Wheelchair and Posture Service. This work takes place in the service workshop and stores, clients' homes, and other properties, within the current catchment area of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Integrated Care System.
