This vacancy has arisen in a successful Maths department that is continually growing. The Maths curriculum at Key Stage 3 is a Maths Mastery approach built within the Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework. At Post 16, we offer IB Mathematics where students have the opportunity to sit standard or higher level. We also offer Further Maths at GCSE with our highest ever cohort this academic year.

We invest heavily so that staff have ongoing access to weekly high-quality professional development and a curriculum focused on developing conceptual understanding. Our curriculum is underpinned by research on task design, variation theory, concept development and raising achievement. Full training will be available to the successful candidate.

The Academy is very successful, rated by OfSTED as Outstanding in all areas, where students from a wide variety of backgrounds and starting points can flourish and succeed. In September 2017 we became an International Baccalaureate World School and offer the IB Career-related Programme in key stage 5. In July 2020 we were successfully authorised to deliver the IB Middle Years Programme in Key Stage 3, to ensure we provide our students with a truly world class education. Value added puts it in the top band for similar schools nationally in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 and examination outcomes are among the best of non-selective schools in Kent.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1 April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and two special) educating more than 20,000 students and employing 3,000 talented staff. The basis of this role will be a fixed-term Maternity Cover until July 2025, working either full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days), offering MPS/UPS commensurate with experience + London Fringe Allowance.
