Full Job Description
- To drive a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle for the duration of the winter maintenance season, being allocated to a rota within the Suffolk area.
- To be on standby i.e. AM on standby one week followed by PM standby one week throughout the winter maintenance season.
- To undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocated route and all the associated activities required to deliver the Winter Service such as wash down and vehicle defect checks.
A full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential. - A valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. If, however, training is required, training for the City and Guilds qualification will be arranged for September/October 2024 and the above-mentioned temporary contract will be extended to cover this
- The ability to travel to a Suffolk Highways Depot is essential Additional Information
- You must be able to work as part of the winter service team.
- You will be required to be flexible and could be asked to cover another local depot when required .
- You must also be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions without restriction.

The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover the Winter Maintenance season from October 2024 until May 2025, working from various depots across the Suffolk . We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero-hour contract basis with varied hours per week.
