Our Engineering department offers a dedicated workshop boasting industry-standard centre lathes, CNC systems, 3D printers, and a range of computer facilities with the latest 2D/3D CAD software., Our Engineering department offers a dedicated workshop boasting industry-standard centre lathes, CNC systems, 3D printers, and a range of computer facilities with the latest 2D/3D CAD software. Many of our students go on to university or other degree-level studies in mechatronics, energy, motorsports, and aeronautics. Just as many secure apprenticeships with local and national employers, including Gilkes and BAE Systems, and go on to study for a Higher National Diploma. Our engineering facilities are just as impressive as the progression routes achieved by students. The flagship £1.9m Engineering, Science & Technology Centre houses CNC (computer numerically controlled) machines from Haas, alongside numerous manual lathes - a setup that is the same or better standard than in the workplace. There's also a dedicated science laboratory, sustainable energy workshop, access to 3D printers, the latest CAD suite systems, material testing machines, and much more. The successful candidate will join our experienced team, which has an excellent reputation in the industry and strong links with local businesses that rely on the college to meet their current and future business needs.,

  • Curriculum Development: Lead the development of specific subjects within the curriculum, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.
  • Research & Consultancy: Engage in significant research and consultancy activities to enhance the academic and practical learning experience.
  • Course Verification & Leadership: Oversee course verification processes, coordinate course teams, and provide leadership to ensure high education standards.
  • Impactful Role: Play a crucial role in shaping the future of the related industry by mentoring and educating the next generation of skilled professionals.
  • Classroom Management: To ensure student retention and achievement targets are met. Provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn. They will be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule of work to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills and happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives. The successful candidates will themselves be educated to at least Level 4 and capable of sharing their knowledge and experience with our students in an engaging and informative manner that benefits their passion for the subject. This post would contribute to the college's contribution to the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) by embracing low-carbon technology in the field. Teaching experience is desirable; however, we are looking for someone who is confident in sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. We would provide support for gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us., A recognised teaching qualification or be willing to obtain within 2 years of appointment A Bachelor/Master's degree in an Engineering discipline Level 4 qualification (BTEC HNC, NVQ) in in an Engineering discipline or be willing to work towards it Assessor or IQA qualifications to support curriculum and apprenticeship programmes or be willing to obtain within 2 years English, Maths, and Science at Level 2 (GCSE A
  • to C or equivalent), Understanding of the Engineering industry and potential specialisms that you can inspire students to progress into
  • Recent experience of teaching in an FE/HE environment Recent experience with some industry specialisms such as programming, electronics (namely Arduino coding and bread board prototyping, CAD, PLCs, pneumatics, etc. Workshop Experience in a mechanical and / or electronic context, Effective communication and presentation skills Capable use of IT to promote teaching and monitor learning Effective work management skills that can be translated into a classroom Ability to provide high quality pastoral care to learners Understanding of Engineering principles, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing systems Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational and relevant vocational environment Comprehensive current technical knowledge and skills commensurate with the required vocational delivery

    £18,199/£21,719 to £30,331/£36,198, depending upon hours, qualifications and experience. In addition, a "golden hello" will be payable to the successful candidate.,
