Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workforce Learning and Development Officer to join the new Workforce Education and Learning Team within a large national screening programme. Diabetic Eye Screening Wales (DESW) is part of Public Health Wales and is currently working to improve its service and patient care. The program is undergoing changes through a transformation programme to provide a high-quality screening service and has a large workforce with various training needs, including regular competency assessments and refresher training. The person in this role will help enhance performance, quality, and overall service delivery., · The post will involve occasional evening and weekend working.
· DESW is a national programme, with bases in North, West and South Wales. The post holder will be expected to attend regular team meetings in person.
· Be a central point of contact to respond to / resolve any queries on behalf of the Education Lead or Education Manager.
· Monitor ESR and other databases which help to ensure compliance for staff in relation to training.
· Support the Clinical team with administrative duties in relation to yearly competencies of HCSW's.
· Support and participate in training and educational meetings with staff from all screening divisions and the Screening Workforce and Development team.
· Keep accurate, legible and complete records consistent with legislation national standards, policies and procedures.
· The post holder should be able to demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning through personal and continuous professional development.

· computer and keyboard skills with a comprehensive knowledge of microsoft software.
· Good organisation and communication skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Plan, Coordinate, and deliver education and training projects across DESW to an agreed timetable liaising with speakers from different professional groups.
The post holder will work closely with the Workforce Education and Learning team to support staff through their national diplomas in health screening. You will provide admin support to the Workforce Education and Learning team and the clinical team. You will assist with organising training and be involved in delivering training programmes that are in line with newly developed standard operating procedures., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply., · Educated to Level 4 preferably in a health and social care setting or equivalent qualification; or equivalent level of knowledge and skills acquired through formal training or experience to diploma level equivalent., · IT Qualification (e.g. ICDL)

· Experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
· Experience of managing own Workload
· Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
· Previous experience of working in an NHS environment.
· Experience of working within a screening environment
· Previous experience as an assessor or mentor.

· Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Forms.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Ability to prioritise own workload.
· Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of our workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role.
Desirable criteria
Welsh Language Skills at level 1, e.g. introduce yourself, greet someone in person, answer the phone with a Welsh scripted greeting.

The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable., To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route. The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy. An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
