Full Job Description

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports. The Public Safety Group's role is to keep the public safe by cutting crime, disrupting the highest harm criminals, protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that our police, fire and rescue services are as efficient and effective as they can be in delivering front line public services. We work with our partners in other government departments, local government and the voluntary sector to develop and implement policy, provide funding, and deliver legislation. We work closely with partners across policing, the National Crime Agency, and fire and rescue services to ensure they are as efficient and effective as they can be in delivering front line public services. To deliver on our mission we operate locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We fund the work of a wide range of front-line agencies and are committed to supporting innovation and good practice sharing across the systems we lead. We are also delivering the Emergency Services Mobile Communication Programme - a major national IT programme to improve communications between police, fire and ambulance services. This is an exciting opportunity to join the People and Resourcing (P&R) team within the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP). The Programme is a blend of Contractors, Managed Service Suppliers and Civil Servants working across Technical, Project and Programme Management and User Engagement disciplines. The role being advertised is integral in ensuring ESMCP is appropriately resourced with the right people and the right skills at the right time to deliver the Emergency Services Network (ESN). We are looking for a Workforce Planning Manager to service the ESMCP programme in resourcing, workforce planning and capability development. Working Pattern Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available. Your main day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Deputy Head of Workforce Planning, Resourcing and Skills, Senior Workforce Manager and Programme Workstream stakeholders to ensure the programme workforce planning activities are up to date and accurate.
  • Ensuring requirements to recruit are in line with the programme's governance and quality assurance standards.
  • Acting as the secretariat for monthly resourcing meetings with programme workstreams, ensuring relevant minutes are recorded and distributed.
  • Publishing the programme's organogram and ensuring its information is accurate.
