Full Job Description

Despite the obvious physical hurdles that Cerebral Palsy brings, I am a double award winning, first-class post-graduate who requires the professional and personal support to achieve my career aspirations within policies, politics, and public service. The role will entail accompanying me to the workplace to enable this to become a reality. Due to also being diagnosed with severe Dyslexia you will be required to accompany me to meetings, acting as my notetaker, reader, and scribe. Additionally, you will be required to support me being accountable for time management and deadlines. Although you don't have to be a 'tutor' it would be beneficial if you have experience or the mindset of tutoring/mentoring with written, work-related documents (e.g. tutoring University students). You will be acting as a representative for my professional career; therefore, you will have to abide by both mine and the Civil Services code of conduct and expectations. To overcome the physical hurdles
aforementioned, I am able to walk with assistance and use a small, manual wheelchair for longer exertions.

It is hoped that my Fast Stream journey will be undertaken in a part time/flexible hours capacity, enabling the pursuit of other passions. Therefor this role at times may possess a more 'Personal PA' element, including but not limited to; escorting me to training sessions for elite throw, the gym or appointments, socialising with friends or of course) catching up with office work from my shared home located in London.

This unique and exciting opportunity enables you to gain first-hand experience and insights into life in the Civil Service and the governance of the UK. Despite this, the premise of this position is to facilitate me in participating on the Fast Stream. Therefore, my employment and career progression must always be at the forefront of your work.

Although you will be employed by myself, this role will require Civil Service Security Clearance to the level required by Fast Stream., Support in the completion of all workplace responsibilities and tasks.

Manage a diary for a busy schedule and support with email correspondence, both personal and professional.

Accompany me to appointments and meetings (minutes will need to be taken during all meetings), both personal and professional.

Support me during presentations and other speaking opportunities - you will need to be comfortable with public speaking.

Support in the building of professional relationships within the workplace.

Support with personal care (no experience is necessary and full training will be provided)., Candidate must be available to start work from 2nd September 2024 for introductory 'Base Camp' week, however, should the successful candidate be available prior to this date (part time or full time) the position will be available from beginning of August 2024 in Winchester. (Travel expenses paid).

Candidate must be available to work 4 or 5 days per week from approximately 9am to 5.30pm

A 2:1 or above degree in a Humanities or Social Science related subject and an interest in politics, policies, and current affairs.

Ability to 'teach' and act as a mentor/tutor.

Strong verbal and written communication - including public speaking.

Excellent time keeping and ability to work to deadlines.

Strong organisational skills to handle a busy schedule.

A proactive individual with good initiative.

A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.

Excellent Microsoft office skills (Mac user experience would be an advantage).

Non-smokers only - smoking or vaping will not be permitted whilst on shift.

Valid passport and right to work in the UK.
