Full Job Description

Based at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be responsible for supervising a small team of dedicated HGV mechanics/fitters, you will also be an enthusiastic and talented HGV vehicle mechanic with experience of working on plant machinery.

Your duties will include the prioritisation and allocation of work and ensuring the performance and safety of all workshop staff.

Also you will be required to participate in the out of hours winter call out (stand-by) arrangements for the Councils winter gritting service. To ensure a break down and repair service is in place during the winter months.

This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing supervisory and technical abilities, and to carry out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGV's, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment.

You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City &Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline., Our employees' skills, experience and knowledge are essential to our success along with their happiness, wellbeing, commitment, enthusiasm and motivation to be the best they can be.
