Full Job Description

In this role, you will set up and create our Physical Activity Adviser (PAA) service - part of Surrey County Council's new 'Workwell' programme. As 1 of 15 pilot vanguard sites, Surrey's Workwell programme aims to get those signed off with a fit note back into work via a variety of support, including that of a PAA. This service will encourage more people who need it most to realise the benefits of moving more for their health and wellbeing. This will be a very interesting and varied role where you will be involved in the following:

  • Collaborating to devise what PAA sessions will look like in terms of support, resources and signposting- including in the community
  • Ensuring service equity across Surrey
  • Coordinating training and support for all PAAs
  • Managing SLAs with leisure operators (employing the PAAs)
  • Attending wider Workwell meetings
  • Setting up systems to capture and report on targets
  • Reporting into the Head of Health, you'll develop excellent relationships with leisure operators, and oversee the borough Physical Activity Advisers. You will work very closely with the rest of the Active Surrey organisation, with SCC's Communities and Prevention Team, as well as Social Prescribers and other local partners., We also recommend using an up-to-date web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, to ensure optimal performance.

  • A proactive self starter with excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint
  • An ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload

    This full-time role has a starting salary of £35,730 per annum based on a 36-hour working week. This is a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity until 31st March 2026. This role is open to hybrid working and as a team we split our time between working from home and collaborating together in the office two days per week.
