Full Job Description

West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit a Court Support Officer to join the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention Unit based in Bradford.

As a Unit, the Central Prosecution and Casualty Prevention team is responsible for the processing and handling of all camera detections in the West Yorkshire Police area, including the offering of National Driver Re-training Scheme courses; dealing with telephone enquiries from members of the public concerning the issuance of tickets, summonses, postal requisitions and judicial enforcement and for processing DVLA, fraud, and freedom of information enquiries submitted to the Force.

As a Court Support Officer within the department, it will be your responsibility to ensure the Unit is consistently providing an effective prosecution service to the Organisation, partner agencies and HM Courts. The role will therefore involve data input, case management, file processing and decision making as well as attendance at court to perform clerical duties alongside the Court Prosecution officer. This involves dealing with court attendees on a face to face basis, dealing with queries and checking documentation on behalf of the Unit to ensure that the Organisation meets all the required objectives within its portfolio, maintains output and adheres to Court deadlines in accordance with policy and legislation.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate previous experience of working in an administrative or clerical environment, and previous experience of working in a similar customer focused and confidential environment, as well as knowledge of computerised databases and software packages specifically Microsoft Office. You must also have a flexible approach to working hours to ensure the delivery of an efficient service provision which meets our customers' requirements.

Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last three years. The vacancy will close at 23:55 hours on the 24th of September 2024.

For roles which are advertised as Career Progression Schemes, individuals will be appointed to the bottom scale point of the appropriate grade within the scheme, based on the role entry requirements. Full progression through the scheme may be subject to attaining a specific qualification or successfully passing an assessment or review.

West Yorkshire Police is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all minority groups and individuals who identify with one or more of the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
