In order to be considered for the role you must have the following:

  • Minimum of a UK issued Part-FCL Commercial Pilot's Licence (Aeroplanes) with RT Licence


  • Hold, or have held within the last 6 years a valid Multi-Engine Piston (land) class rating (MEP(land))


  • Hold, or have held within the last 6 years a valid Single Pilot, Multi-Engine Instrument Rating.


  • A minimum of 1,200 hours total flying time and be in current multi-engine practice, which must include:


  • - 500 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) single pilot aircraft fixed wing
    - 100 hours flying time IFR
    - 50 hours night of which 25 hours to be PIC

  • English Language Proficiency Level 6


  • UK Class 1 Medical valid for single pilot commercial operations carrying passengers


  • Ability to work as part of a team and be a self-starter


  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to the crew while carrying out other tasks


  • A full UK driving licence


  • As part of the recruitment process, applicants will be required to undertake a test flight, and pass an interview panel.,
  • Copy of a current Commercial Pilots Licence showing the most recent expiry dates of the MEP(land) and IR-SP-ME Class if not currently valid

    £65,457 to £68,874 per annum (plus Market Factor payment of £14,000 subject to annual review)

    Here at the National Police Air Service (NPAS) we're looking for fixed-wing pilots to join our team which provides borderless air support to all police forces across England and Wales 24/7, 365 days a year. On a daily basis, NPAS helps save lives, tackles criminality and keeps people and communities safe.

    Crews provide effective aerial support to ground based officers and in doing so improve operational response to incidents within the highest safety standards.

    Working alongside Tactical Flight Officers, NPAS Pilots have the opportunity to make good use of their skills and experience on a variety of police missions.

  • Fixed 4 on 4 off, 12-hour roster pattern offering a stable working routine and the ability to plan many months ahead. Pilots operate in accordance with the approved Flight Time Limitation (FTL).
