Yard Assistant

The primary responsibility of the Yard Assistant is to be responsible for the safe, efficient and smooth running of the yard and warehouse operations.,

• Ensuring the yards and warehouses are always swept and clean


• Wash areas are regularly pressure cleaned and free from mud deposits


• Cleaning plant and equipment when returned from hire


• Helping load and unload vehicles for both colleagues, customers, and suppliers


• Support of trade counter staff in ferrying on and off hires to and from workshop and yard


• Safe storage of spares, hire and sales stock


• Helping ensure the security of the company premises and equipment and making sure equipment is not left vulnerable to theft


• Assisting the Hire, Sales & Service managers as they require


• Working effectively in a small team


• Keeping work environment clean and tidy


• Partaking in promotional events


• Maintain Health & Safety to HSE & Company Standards


• Attaining and maintaining training and competence standards and qualification as are legally and operationally required for you to carry out your key duties


• As part of the role you will also be expected to assist within the depot team as required (e.g. relief 3.5T driving)


Because of the changing nature of our business and its structure, your job description will inevitably change. You will from time to time be required to undertake other activities that fall within your capabilities as directed by the General Manager or senior manager on site.


• Ideally possess Counterbalance forklift license



• Knowledge of tool and plant is an advantage



• Happy to work outdoors in all weather



• Friendly and professional manner



• Ability to take instruction from senior staff and lead by example



• High standards of Customer Service
