This position is a permanent opportunity As a Yard Operative, you will be expected to:
- segregate waste and recyclables by way of hand picking and trommel belt picking
- confirm the contents of waste and recyclable streams to supervisor.
- maintain inventory records for waste and recyclable materials
- operate recycling processing equipment, including but not limited to, trommel, bailer, crusher, shredder, forks, and shovel.
- liaise with van and skip wagon drivers on contents and positioning of waste and recyclable materials.
- familiarise yourself with the different waste and recyclable material streams and how they are processed.
- ensure safe systems of work are adhered to and to take part in any training required to enhance the competency of yourself and the company
- adhere to procedures method statements, toolbox talks, site instructions and disciplinary procedures
- maintain production standards and schedules and to load and unload materials to and from vehicles.
- monitor equipment and report malfunctions to your supervisor or manager.
- perform routine preventative maintenance on plant machines and equipment.
- Keep worksite clean and tidy.
- wear appropriate PPE provided and under no circumstances deface it.
- perform any other reasonable requested task.
- meet appraisal targets and support the delivery and achievement of overall business objectives.

- Adhere with the Health and Safety at Work Act to take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.
Experience of working in a similar environment. - Loading and unloading of vehicles(including HGV lorries) in the most efficient manner
- Experience of health and safety best practice and procedures.
- Experience of dealing with customers.
- Ability to understand and respond to both verbal and written instructions.
- Able to work in a fast-paced customer focused environment.
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a flexible approach to work and activities.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Openness to change and ability to respond to this to improve performance
- Able to take on other responsibilities and learn quickly from others.
- Willingness to work at weekends and out of hours (on a rota basis).
- Excellent communication skills, able to communicate across multiple channels including Microsoft Teams, Face to Face and Email.

- Experience or Knowledge of the below would be advantageous but not essential:
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of waste management.
Competitive salary - £27,375.08 - Hours - 43.75 per week (Monday-Friday Pattern).
