Full Job Description

Work closely with your services Safeguarding Lead, to ensure all issues and concerns are escalated and dealt with quickly and effectively.

Support and provide advocacy for young people by attending multi-agency meetings including agencies such as Police, Childrens Services and other professionals.

Deliver training and consultation to other professionals on the issues facing young people around substance misuse.

Help support the young person into education and/or training, working closely with partner agencies where appropriate.

Support and educate the families and carers of young service users. Plan person- centred support, in partnership with families and carers (where appropriate).

Encourage access to local youth/peer support groups.

Deliver harm reduction support and interventions working as an autonomous practitioner (including BBV testing, and Hep B vaccinations) and to support prescribing and script management where required.

Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to have difficult conversations, using empathy and sensitivity, with young people, often experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, related to their substance use and other health professionals.

Undertake comprehensive assessment of the young people's health needs following referral into the service, providing information and advice about drug use, smoking cessation, alcohol use and related issues to include blood borne viruses and safer sex.

Nurses are an integral member of our multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services. Every person who comes into our service is treated as an individual, so understanding the importance of a whole person approach along with being curious, a good listener, a clinically robust practitioner and having a flexible approach are essential skills.

The focus of this role is to provide a clinical response to young people who require specialist interventions as part of a holistic treatment service. Each young person will be co-worked within the team and jointly managed with other agencies and services as appropriate. You will play a key role in assessing the nursing needs of a young person, considering their medical, social, cultural and family circumstances., Believe in people
