About Us:

Help change the lives of young people in a high-profile London borough.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions that we're making through to the services that we're delivering, it's vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment. And our Youth Offending Team plays a vital part in achieving these goals.

The Role:

Joining our efficient, multi-disciplinary team, you'll deliver truly child-first support to vulnerable children and young people who come into contact with the youth justice system. In doing so, you'll be making real, positive change to their lives as well as the lives of their families.

The role has a varied and challenging workload. This includes supervising children and young people assigned to you, working with their families using systemic approaches, collaborating with partner agencies to deliver services and carrying out accurate, effective assessments. Ultimately, you'll be providing invaluable advocacy and interventions that can prevent both offending and reoffending.

You'll work with young people aged 10-17 who are subject to youth justice interventions and sentences on statutory court orders or out-of-court diversions. Through the course of your work, you'll also be able to take advantage of a balanced caseload, multiple opportunities for development and our deep commitment to systemic practice. If you want to excel and rapidly progress, you're in the right place.

Please refer to the
Job Description for more information.

About You:

We're looking for experience in a multi-disciplinary youth offending team, including delivering youth justice aims, carrying out youth justice work and dealing with relevant legislation and regulations. You'll also need to be able to design and deliver intervention plans and write accurate assessments.

As for skills, you should be well-organised, an excellent communicator and adept at building a wide range of partnerships. You should also have a recognised and relevant qualification in social work or probation and be open to practice in a relational, systemic and trauma informed approach.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.

Additional information:

The council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
