Full Job Description

All Saints Youth Project is an established, community-based provision based in All Saints Centre. We deliver a range of support and activities for young people aged 11 to 21 years old (25 with additional needs) and their families since 1988. We have a strong commitment to developing an inclusive project open to all young people, regardless of ability or background, to support their transition from adolescence to adulthood. Together with the Family Support team, this enables us to deliver an integrated approach by addressing the needs of the family. We are looking for experienced, committed, confident and dynamic individuals to join our diverse team of youth workers at All Saints Youth Project in the heart of Kings Heath. Our values are important to us, these include being young people centered, kind and caring and we expect our youth workers to embody these. You will be expected to work as a general youth worker in our young peoples centre. Sessions - Tuesdays and Thursdays 2.30pm - 8.15pm termtime. Additional hours may be offered during holiday schemes and or special project work. Job Description The post holder will be expected to:

  • Engage with young people.
  • Offer support to young people.
  • Communicate positively with young people
  • Plan and run activities
  • Facilitate young people's participation in all activities.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Attend regular supervision.
  • Contribute towards the development of resources.
  • Contribute to the programme of activities.
  • Attend 30 minute briefing before session and 15 minute debriefing after session
  • Set up equipment and clear away at the beginning and end of each session.
  • Safeguard young people (on and off site)
  • Have a understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities
  • Manage groups of young people on and off site.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers in all areas of youth work
  • Work proactively to encourage all young people to support each other
  • Challenge negative behavior and encourage positive behaviors.
  • Take shared responsibility for the general care of the building.
  • Take shared responsibility for the care, maintenance, safety and storage of the equipment
  • Work alongside volunteers
  • Fill in timesheets and other records as deemed necessary
  • Work within our policies and values
  • Support the work of the whole youth project as appropriate
  • The worker will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and there may be opportunities for
  • further development of this job in the future.
  • Be committed to your contracted work hours to provide consistency for young people and
  • the staff team
  • Do anything else that is required of you in the job role

    Essential: Basic youth work qualification or
  • experience Desirable: Basic youth work qualification or training, willing to work towards further qualifications Experience Essential: Working with young people aged 11 - 25 in a group setting Working in a team Able to plan and run group activities Desirable: Working with LGBTQIA+ young people Working with young people in an informal setting Working with young people with additional needs Skills Essential: Work cooperatively with adults and young people Plan and run group activities Desirable: IT skills Creative skills Sports skills Have planned and run group activities Knowledge Essential: Understanding of what makes an accessible, caring hospitable environment for all young people Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection Knowledge of equal opportunities Desirable: First Aid Qualities Essential: Friendly Caring Reflective Flexible yet clear about boundaries Fair Non judgmental Reliable Patient Committed Able to work as a team member
