Full Job Description

1. Animal Care: Provide exceptional care for a variety of zoo animals, with a focus on birds of prey housed within the zoo's aviary.

2. Training and Enrichment: Collaborate with the animal care team to implement training programs and enrichment activities, ensuring the well-being and mental stimulation of the zoo's feathered residents.

3. Enclosure Maintenance: Maintain clean and safe enclosures for birds of prey, ensuring they meet or exceed established standards for animal welfare.

4. Visitor Engagement: Engage with zoo visitors, providing educational information about the birds of prey, their habitats, and conservation efforts.

5. Assist in Educational Programs: Participate in educational programs, presentations, and events to promote awareness and appreciation for birds of prey and wildlife conservation.

6. Presentation: Present fun, interactive and informative daily demonstration and experiences for visitors.

Are you passionate about animal care and fascinated by the majestic world of birds of prey? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Zoo Falconer at Willows Bird of Prey Centre and Wildlife Trail. In this unique role, no prior falconry knowledge is necessary, but a strong background in animal care and a love for working with diverse species is essential., Minimum of 2 years of experience in animal care, preferably in a zoo or wildlife setting.

  • Knowledge of animal care and animal behaviour.


  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for educating the public about wildlife conservation and birds.


  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.


  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.


  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis includes working weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
