Full Job Description
Are you a passionate retail professional ready to lead a team and make a real difference in your community? Join Prospect Hospice as a Retail Shop Manager at our Wroughton store and help raise vital funds that support people affected by life-limiting illnesses across Swindon and northeast Wiltshire.
Since 1980, we've been at the heart of our community, delivering expert, compassionate end-of-life care. Our shops are more than just retail outlets-they're hubs of community spirit and fundraising success. With 18 locations and a brilliant team of staff and volunteers, we're proud to support people when they need us most.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days in 7 - to include some Sundays and Bank Holidays)
What you will be doing:
As retail shop manager, you'll take the lead in:
o Maximising sales and footfall through outstanding visual merchandising and customer experience
o Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers and an assistant shop manager
o Driving Gift Aid donations and meeting income targets
o Managing stock, cash handling and compliance with health, safety, and trading standards
o Being a community ambassador for Prospect Hospice and a role model for our values
You will work collaboratively and engage with the community to build a team of volunteers, attract desirable donations and make the shop a destination.
o Proven experience in retail management, ideally in the charity or voluntary sector
o A strong leader with a positive, people-focused approach
o Sales driven with excellent customer service and creative visual merchandising skills
o Experience in volunteer supervision, stock control, and customer service
o Confident managing targets, cash handling, and shop security
o Flexible, organised, and committed to making everyday count
You will need to hold a full driving licence and be flexible to cover other shops in our catchment area when needed.
