Full Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the Global Regulatory Policy & Advisory (GRPA) team in the role of Regulatory Policy Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join the GRPA team, capturing and distributing regulatory developments related to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), providing expert technical regulatory support across HSBC. The role will contribute to supporting HSBC's ambitious plan to prioritise financing and investment that transitions to a net zero global economy and helps build a thriving, resilient future for society and businesses. As Regulatory Policy Manager, you will work in a team that supports on all matters related to ESG and, in time, a global subject matter expert team, comprising members of GRPA across different countries, providing expert technical regulatory support. The job holder will ensure timely notification of emerging ESG developments that impact regulatory capital, as well as related reporting and disclosure requirements, providing policy support on their implementation. In this role, you will take accountability for, but limited to:
- Track new ESG related policy developments and formulate interpretations of these, providing detailed practical guidance, distributed to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Provide technical support on the implementation of new ESG related regulatory requirements to functions, businesses, and other internal stakeholders to assist compliance with local and international regulations.
- Provide regulatory policy advice and guidance to Group, regions, and businesses on regulatory and disclosure implications of ESG policy developments.
- Review regulatory and standard setting bodies' (e.g., UK, European, Basel, and other bodies) discussion, consultation, and policy papers; determine policy view and disseminate to key stakeholders.
- Brief senior management in regions and businesses on regulatory policy change.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Business, driving the embedding of ESG and climate change framework and capabilities and working to resolve challenges.
- Lead and effectively manage projects across the GRPA and ESG teams., The base location for this role is London - Hybrid working. Continue to grow with our internal opportunities. - Have relevant experience of ESG matters and the various ESG reporting and regulatory initiatives (TCFD, ISSB, TNFD, CSRD, SEC, PCAF, PRA SS 3/19, Green taxonomies) is preferable.
- Knowledge of the rules related to the calculation of regulatory capital and RWA, as well as any associated reporting and disclosures (Basel, EU, PRA, or another major regulatory regime).
- An understanding of the risk, regulatory, and accounting treatment of a broad range of products, particularly those related to green finance, consulting with SMEs across a global business as required.
- Ability to formulate and articulate defensible interpretations of regulatory and non-financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- A proven ability to work and thrive across a multi-location team.
