Full Job Description
The BBC Group Finance team is responsible for producing consolidated reporting for the BBC Group to the various BBC boards, as well as external stakeholders, including OFCOM and DCMS. Key activities of the team include the consolidated financial statements, group performance reporting, technical accounting advice and sustainability reporting. It is a central-based team with an advisory and assurance focus. The nature of the team means that we regularly deal with senior stakeholders and with colleagues in Group Finance, Strategy, Policy, Commercial and HR. Team members work on a diverse range of activities, gain excellent senior exposure, and take advantage of opportunities for career development with a strong track record of former team members moving into key, influential roles across the BBC, making this a perfect opportunity to develop and broaden your skills and experience., As the Assistant Accountant in the BBC Group Finance team you will be heavily involved in the delivery of key outputs (primarily month end, budget and year end) with a specific focus on;
- Planning and organising processes around annual pay related disclosures.
- Prepare and take ownership of multiple year end disclosure tasks.
- Assist in the production of statutory financial statements.
- Identify and recommend improvements to internal controls, processes and methodologies.
- Communicate directly with auditors and internal control to help support compliance requirements.
- Collaboration with outsourced partners, FP&A team, divisional stakeholders as required.
- Support Central and Divisional Finance teams in delivering a robust and efficient accounting close process.
- Support a continuous improvement culture within the team and identify initiatives to simplify and enhance processes and services
Experience of working in a finance function in a complex matrix organisation. - Developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and assuredly with all stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls. Desirable
- Accounting qualification (full or part) e.g. AAT or equivalent, or willing to consider further study as appropriate.
