Full Job Description

The Clinical Team Leader will be responsible for leading and managing the Mental health helpline team, providing first-line clinical leadership and operational management. This role involves delivering mental health services to people contacting 111 or 999 SCAS services, triaging mental health needs, and connecting patients to the appropriate mental health provision. The Clinical Team Leader will work closely with SCAS systems and staff to ensure the best outcomes for patients and provide mental health expertise to SCAS 111 and 999 staff., The mental health helpline is a key part of the Urgent Care Pathway meeting the demands of the Ten-Year Plan to provide 24 hr Mental health support anyone in the Oxon and Buckinghamshire area. Clinicians employed into the team work with the South Central Ambulance Service to triage, advise and support people who need access to mental health service when calling 111 option 2 or 999. They work with Oxford health and mind colleagues to ensure seamless referrals into services if needed.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
+ To provide first-line clinical leadership and operational management to the Mental health helpline team in the safe delivery of assessment, care planning and implement of mental health intervention specific to the needs of individual or groups of patients and their carers
+ Undertake highly complex assessments, including the assessment of risk, identify needs and develop care plans in partnership with patients and carers based on evidence-based practice
+ To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with other agencies, OHFT staff, patients, and their families and carers
+ To participate in regular supervision and to provide clinical/professional and managerial supervision to an agreed number of identified clinical staff within the helpline team or wider MH urgent care pathway as may be required
+ To work constructively and proactively with SCAS clinicians and managers in the endeavour of continuous improvement and development of the service in order that it meets both SCAS and OHFT requirements both now and in the future, + All new starters have a thorough induction process, both local and Trust wide, which aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
