Full Job Description
You will:
- Contribute proactively to the positive development of your home and Adel Beck as a whole.
- Develop residential practitioners to deliver person centred, emotional and trauma informed care.
- Ensure that staff are rota'd, deployed effectively, efficiently, and economically.
- Assess individual needs and provide appropriate interventions to meet the level of the complex issues and risks associated with the behaviours identified.
- Develop and sustain effective working and information sharing protocols with colleagues and external partner agencies to ensure an integrated service is provided, delivered and maintained.
- Work alongside the homes Multi-disciplinary operational management team to ensure that all young people's needs are met in accordance with the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015., Job Purpose: Lead and manage a team of Nights Senior Practitioners and Nights Assistant Care Officers in the delivery of a high-quality care service including risk assessment, risk management, Care and Interventions programmes that meet the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people. To be responsible for the smooth running of the home and contribute to the care of our children and young people throughout the waking night. To take a lead and active role in the lives of children and young people in assessing their needs and encouraging attitudinal and behavioural change through proactive and positive interaction maintaining a pro-social behaviour, restorative and solution focussed approach. To encourage and foster a culture of commitment to continuous growth and development., Form a close working relationship with the leadership team, the workforce development lead and to work a therapeutic child focused manner.
- Lead, motivate and provide effective and supportive management responses and guidance to staff.
- Develop the team through appropriate challenge of practice.
- Provide KPI data, analysis and reports to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Ensure that staff are appropriately deployed in accordance with individual plans, which set out staffing requirements; ensure that an appropriate blend of skills and experience are available in emergencies.
- Lead in the provision of a safe and stimulating environment which provides for assessment, care, education and health of children and young people nurturing their emotional and physical wellbeing.
- Ensure the staff team plan, deliver, and participate in opportunities for enrichment, recreational and/or vocational development of children and young people.
- Lead in being constructive and proactive, in addressing and managing the challenging behaviour presented by children and young people.
- Take a proactive lead role in the admission process.
- Maintain and where necessary develop robust quality assurance, audit systems, Policy, Procedure and Guidance providing analysis and constructive feedback to managers and practitioners.
- Ensure Safeguarding Policy and Procedures are implemented and followed by the team and colleagues.
- Lead in organising, deploying and managing staff ensuring work patterns and rotas are maintained, always providing cover to meet the needs of the service.
- Keep up to date with local and national developments in respect of the assessment of children and young people in the criminal justice system and more widely.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, induction, supervision, appraisal, training, development and support processes for staff. Ensure HR policies and procedures relating to managing staff are followed.
- Physically restrain and control young people, in line with approved restraint techniques, guidelines and procedure (training will be provided).
- Lead in developing yourself and staff to enhance performance and practice through training, shared knowledge, best practice, promote ideas for innovation and improvement and use information to make effective decisions.
- Encourage a culture of listening, reflection and supervision within your nights team.
- Ensure prior to using any equipment or undertaking an activity a risk assessment is in place and a safety data sheet available if required.
- In line with the Medication Policy and Procedure administer and record prescribed and other medication and supervise Senior Practitioners, Care and Assistant Care Officers in this activity.
- Promote the effective use of resources and to manage appropriate financial resources within an identified budget following Council Financial Procedure Rules.
- Lead in developing and sustaining effective working and information sharing protocols with colleagues and external partner agencies to ensure an integrated service is delivered and maintained.
- Provide reports, attend and chair meetings as required.
- Lead in developing others to support the dissemination of Effective Practice, maintaining clear protocols and ensuring the team receives up to date information

- Be flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required, commensurate to grade
- Participate in appraisal, training and development activities to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills

- Be a skilled monitor and evaluator of the impact and effectiveness of childcare practice., The minimum qualification for this post is Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce. The Level 3 Diploma replaces the previous Level 3 NVQ. Existing qualifications are still valid, and you will not need to retake qualifications. If you do not hold the QCF, Level 5, Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services you must be willing to register to commence the course within 3 months of taking up your appointment and complete in a reasonable amount of time. You must also work towards QCF Assessors award. At Adel Beck we care for 24 young people aged 10 to 18 who are referred to us following court proceedings, placed on remand, or sentenced to a period of detention, or because they need to be placed in secure accommodation for their own safety or the safety of others. You will be responsible for managing a team of residential night care staff. You will oversee the quality of care for young people at night-time as well as developing your team to ensure that they are solution fussed and trauma informed practitioners who are committed to working within a multidisciplinary service.
