Full Job Description
Rated 'GOOD' by Her Majesty's Inspection of Probation in November 23, St Helens Youth Justice Service is a small team of multi-agency professionals. We share a passion for helping and supporting children and their families and victims of youth crime, to improve their lives and make communities safer. To do this, we work hard to prevent and reduce youth crime by pro-active engagement, providing creative and effective interventions and programmes which are restorative, trauma informed and which take a whole family approach In this varied and exciting post you will play an important role in supporting the team. You will
- Directly supervise the administrative staff and oversee the function of the administrative team contributing significantly to the smooth running of the service.
- Support and assist fellow colleagues to undertake the required functions of their roles, including the direct line management, supervision, training, development and appraisal of other admin staff, which many include volunteers, students, apprentices etc.
- Oversee the day-to-day health and safety of the office environment. Promote and develop good management practice, positive participation, effective communication, demonstrating effective leadership through good professional practice.
- Keep up to date with national and local initiatives and ensure service provisions reflect best practice and compliance as required (from eg HMIP/audit inspections etc)
- To support the overall performance management of the service and close working with the Information Officer as required to inform the services annual plans and key performance indicators.
- Work alongside team managers in other service areas to ensure effective administrative support and workload management within the administration team.

- Previous supervision experience of staff, with proven ability to manage performance ensuring quality service outcomes.
- Experience of supervising staff and developing individuals within teams to maximise their contribution.
- Experience of being able to communicate complex or sensitive information effectively within the service and with external agencies and staff to deal with enquiries relating to the management of the service, vacancies, and staff issues
- Be Professionally qualified/relevant degree (or vocational qualification) related to the role.
- An understanding of and an ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to plan, manage and deliver technical projects.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety.
- Prior knowledge and high level of skills in observation, recording and analysis, including report writing and be willing and able to support others in effective practice to improve quality assurance and service delivery.
