Full Job Description
Are you looking for a role where you can truly make a difference? Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is excited to announce the launch of its first-ever Children's Residential Home. We're on the lookout for caring and dedicated individuals to join us as Children's Residential Workers. This is your chance to be a part of something brand new and help create a nurturing environment where vulnerable children and young people can thrive.
We are looking for Children's Residential Workers.
About the Role
As a Children's Residential Worker, you'll be part of a dedicated team responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children and young people. This is a hands-on role where you'll help create a warm, caring, and safe home environment. You'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of young people by supporting them in their daily routines, encouraging their independence, and helping them achieve the goals set out in their Care and Support plans.
Your work will include helping with day-to-day activities, from preparing meals to supporting children in their education and hobbies. You'll assist in organising and participating in social and recreational activities, helping to create memorable and positive experiences. In this role, you'll also play a key part in managing challenging behaviours, always using a trauma-informed approach that puts the needs of the child first.
This role is not just a job-it's an opportunity to foster positive relationships, build trust, and support children in developing the skills they need for their future. You'll also benefit from ongoing professional development and training, including specialist training in medication administration and trauma-informed care.
You're someone who genuinely cares about making a difference and brings warmth, patience, and empathy to every situation. You understand the importance of providing consistent, nurturing care and are committed to helping each child feel safe, valued, and empowered.
You thrive in a team environment and are able to work collaboratively with colleagues to provide the best care possible. You're also confident handling challenging situations with a calm and professional approach, always keeping the child's best interests at heart. Your ability to be flexible, patient, and responsive to the individual needs of children is essential, as is your commitment to continuous learning and development.
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is committed to providing high-quality, child-centred care that helps vulnerable young people thrive. As part of our new residential home, you'll be joining a forward-thinking team at a particularly exciting time. We are building a service that truly makes a difference in the lives of children and young people, and we want you to be part of that journey.
We also recognise that our employees are our greatest asset, which is why we offer a supportive and inclusive work environment, along with fantastic benefits designed to help you grow and succeed:
Competitive Hourly Rate:
We value your experience and expertise and offer a highly competitive hourly rate package.
Local Government Pension Scheme:
Enjoy peace of mind with our excellent pension benefits.
Ongoing Learning & Development:
Take advantage of training and development opportunities to enhance your career.
Generous Annual Leave:
Benefit from a substantial leave allowance to support your work-life balance.
Supportive Team Environment:
Work within a collaborative and inclusive culture that values your contributions.
Ready to Make a Lasting Difference?
If you're excited by the prospect of being part of this groundbreaking new service and helping to transform the lives of children and young people, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and take the first step toward being part of something truly special.
