Full Job Description
Housing Needs Manager
Starting salary between £40,869 and £49,545 per annum
Based at King’s Court Council Office, King’s Lynn, Norfolk
Would you like to lead a team of skilled officers in helping towards ending homelessness in West Norfolk, person by person?
As Housing Needs Manager, you will manage all operational aspects of housing delivery, ensuring homeless applicants are assessed in line with policy and legislation, and ensuring your team continues to develop their knowledge and practices.
You will also take a leading role in implementing the borough’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy and will develop and maintain effective operational partnerships inside and outside of the Council.
Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent), you will have substantial experience in housing services (or equivalent) with experience of effectively managing and motivating staff. You will have experience of working directly with MPs, councillors or their equivalents, and will understand the political structures of local government. You will also understand the operational and strategic issues facing local government housing services and will have proven experience of managing budgets.
You will come to the role with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners. Crucially, you will be able to lead by example, demonstrating the values embedded in the Strategy: dignity, flexibility, transparency, collaboration and empowerment.
If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, we will welcome your application. In return we can offer you a competitive salary, performance related pay, generous annual leave including office closure between Christmas and New Year, local government pension scheme, employee benefits scheme and a commitment to supporting and developing our staff. If you are moving to the area for this role, we can also offer you a relocation package of up to £8,000.
Appointment subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure, through the DBS.
Closing date: 3 April 2025.
