Offer Description

Be part of the dynamic development of Sociology social policy and Criminology at the University of Southampton.

We are seeking to appoint a criminologist as Lecturer to expand our vibrant academic Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology (permanent/tenure track).

Ranked 4th in the UK for research quality (REF2021 UoA20), our research community holds a world-leading reputation for research that addresses global, national, and local challenges, informs policy, and makes a real difference to people and society. Successful candidates will share our ambition for producing quality agenda-setting research, pursue grants and fellowships from national and international funders, and play an active part in our academic community. They will also share our aspirations to foster and maintain a collegiate, supportive, and inclusive culture of research and education. We are particularly interested to hear from applicants with interests in digital criminology or criminological psychology, although candidates with excellent/developing research trajectories from any area of the discipline are encouraged to apply. The post will also involve teaching on our excellent and growing criminology programmes (recently ranked UK 4th by The Times). Willingness to teach across the discipline is an advantage.
