Every day our Renewable Energy Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation (EM&I) teams are busy testing, maintaining and repairing equipment. This includes gas and diesel-powered generators, biogas upgrading plants, pumps and equipment associated with sewage pumping stations, Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment sites. Our programme is approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). What you'll do Duties will include:

• Maintaining and repairing various types of diesel generator
• Inspecting, servicing and maintaining gas fired Combined Heat and Power plants
• Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling gas and diesel engines
• Inspecting, servicing and maintaining associated equipment, pumps/blowers/fans
• Troubleshooting engine malfunctions to determine root causes
• Compiling technical reports on condition of engines/electrical panels and enclosures
• Working to minimise machinery, plant, and equipment downtime by carrying out diagnostics and preventative maintenance efficiently and effectively
• Electrical fault finding with generator control systems and alternators
• Maintaining biogas upgrading plant
• Carrying out condition monitoring of engines with oil and gas samples

  Five GCSEs including maths, English and science at grade C or above.
• A-level in maths and/or physics is an advantage for this apprenticeship.
• Experience in practical engineering at school or at home.
• Good computer literacy, communication skills and the ability to work in a small team., Maintenance and Operations Technician Apprenticeship
• EngTech professional status - IMechE or IET
• Level 3 Award in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering
• Level 3 extended diploma in mechanical and electrical maintenance
• Level 2 performing engineering operations
• 18th Edition (for those undergoing an electrical pathway)
