Full Job Description
The post will be hands on, working with the public and supervising a team of Library and Outreach assistants and Library Support Workers to deliver access to books, information, learning, events, and support outreach activities at community settings.
As well as ensuring the efficient running of the library your role will include planning for the future and working on strategies for the continual improvement of our library offer, delivering outreach engagement, reaching new users and embracing library innovations.
This post would suit a candidate with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motive staff. Good organisation, digital and administrative skills are also a must.
There is a customer facing element to the role so the candidate should enjoy working with the public and have experience of providing excellent customer service.
Most important is an enthusiasm for libraries and a commitment to ensuring Brent Libraries excels in providing the local community with all the benefits that libraries have to offer.
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us. We have just recently refurbished our Resident Hub and Wembley Library, and in 2025 we will be refurbing Kilburn Library. It is an exciting time to join our service, as we develop new offers in our newly refurbished buildings and spaces.
