Full Job Description

Reporting into the Senior Marketing Manager (Classical) you will work as part of the Classical Music Team with a primary focus on the classical music external touring programme, which includes inhouse orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia and guest orchestras. The role will also support the classical music offering at our home The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running helping to plan, implement and execute successful marketing campaigns, drive ticket sales and raise awareness of the Classical music programme both in external venues and at The Glasshouse Gateshead. This will include concert on sales, venue liaison, budget management, media buying, digital, email, social media, plus administration duties. This role will pay particular focus on the marketing of our external touring as part of our continued classical music commitments. Key partner venues include The Sands Centre, Carlilse; The Fire Station, Sunderland; West Moreland Hall, Kendal and Middlesbrough Town Hall. Plus, national and international touring as required. The successful candidate will also support the Senior Marketing Manager in The Glasshouse, Gateshead, with activities that include but are not limited to creation and print of programmes, print, emails, administration, social media and website. It would be great if you had experience in:

  • Working in a busy marketing environment;
  • Knowledge of strategic marketing principles including:
  • 1. Audience profiles and how to work with them to inform marketing activity; 2. Peer/competitor analysis and how to use such insight to inform marketing activity; 3. The structure of a brand, how it is developed, how it is communicated, and how it remains cohesive and representative of organisational ambition within its communication.
  • Knowledge of the principles, and practical application, of marketing tools and tactics including, 5. Adobe suite (or other design software)
  • 6. Monday 7. Teams 8. WordPress. You'll be responsible for: Strategy and planning You will contribute to the marketing plan for classical touring marketing and classical music in Gateshead including:
  • Information on historical and projected sales information;
  • Customer and audience data;
  • Information about peer and competitor activity;
  • 'On the ground' observations.
  • Campaign development As the post holder, you'll get to put together imaginative, targeted marketing campaigns. You'll contribute ideas around messaging that support the classical brand and reaches the right people. You will support the classical team to help identify the most appropriate marketing platforms based on understanding of ticket sales, region, target audience, competitor/peer activity and budget. Campaign delivery and evaluation In this practical marketing role, you will work with colleagues and external providers to administer campaigns and meet deadlines. You'll be working with suppliers, and delivering a broad range of marcomms activities including digital marketing including social media and email marketing, PR, copywriting, and website administration, You'll help make sure our marketing works effectively with our visual guidelines and tone of voice, Once a campaign is over, your evaluation of the work will help colleagues to keep developing future activity. Other duties Other duties that will be required include:
  • Administrative tasks;
  • Print management;
  • Website editing;
  • Creation of concert programmes and handouts;
  • Attendance at performances and other events, at evenings and weekends as required in partner venues and The Glasshouse;
  • Travel to and from meetings with external suppliers;
  • Participation in an out of hours on-call rota;
  • Participation in an extended hours social media response service;
  • Acting as a general point of contact for marketing enquiries.

  • A passion for, and knowledge of live music, classical music and the cultural sector;
  • Experience/local knowledge of regional touring areas particularly Sunderland, Carlilse, Middlesbrough and Kendal;
  • Experience in customer care;
  • Full clean driving licence;
  • Experience of working with software platforms, the ones we use are:
