Are you a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals in palliative care? An exciting job opportunity has come up for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Multi-disciplinary Specialist Palliative Care Team covering the community in South East and Central Northumberland.,

• To provide a comprehensive Specialist Occupational Therapy service to patients with a palliative care need.
• To ensure service provision in the specialised area is prioritised and service delivery is made effectively within resource constraints.
• To practice within the multidisciplinary team, providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, diagnosis and treatment using clinical reasoning skills.
• To manage a defined caseload of patients (often with highly complex needs), using evidence based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
• To undertake complex assessments, plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions. This work will take place both in patients' homes and hospital.
• To provide leadership for junior and support staff, through supervision and mentoring.
• To carry out appraisals with junior and support staff, as delegated by Line Manager.
• To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within the designated area, holding responsibility for defined projects through specialist interest and steering group.
• To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service.
• To regularly supervise undergraduate Occupational Therapy students on practice placement and participate in placement experience of other professionals.
  
  The successful candidate will have extensive post graduate experience with an interest in Palliative Care. They will need to feel confident and comfortable working autonomously without direct supervision, and have the skills to guide and support others e.g. Occupational Therapy students and technical instructors.
