Full Job Description

To coordinate the results processes within the departments of sexual health and HIV in accordance with Trust policy and procedures - ensuring confidentiality is maintained. To be the first point of contact for enquiries for the health improvement team and results service.
To provide administrative support for the partner notification process in line with service protocol and within agreed time scales., + To be responsible for the daily management of positive and negative results which involves, liaising with the laboratories, Interpreting results and recording the associated action on the administrator's database across sites (Camberwell sexual health centre and Beckenham Beacon).
+ To recall patients by letter, text or phone who have been diagnosed with one of the following sexually transmitted infections that may require treatment; Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, HIV, MSU, Hep B & C. This involves retrieving and taking action on medical notes
+ To liaise with the laboratories and departmental multidisciplinary team (Nurses, Doctors, CSWs and Administrators) regarding missing, outstanding or queries around patients' tests.
+ To provide information regarding referral process and services as requested by external agencies such as GPs, other hospitals and clinics.
+ To give negative and positive STI results via 'results by text and and/or letter' and deal with any associated questions that the patient may have and where appropriate refer to a senior team member for further action.
+ To handle phone queries and give result over the phone.
+ To book appointments for patients who have been recalled and answer queries patients may have regarding their care.
+ To be responsible on a daily basis for documenting in patient medical records any care, treatment or actions taken as required., + To be responsible on a daily basis for documenting in patient medical records any care, treatment or actions taken as required.
+ To develop and maintain an electronic database system for the delivery and recording of positive STI results including HIV from virology and microbiology. Documenting date, time, patient demographics, STI, issuing lab, contact name and extension / bleep.
+ To provide administrative support for the partner notification process and to refer complex partner notification tracing for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & C to the Health improvement team.
+ To make decisions around recalling patients in order to ensure the best course of action in facilitating the prompt treatment of patients.
+ To use own initiative and work independently but have the ability to identify when necessary to seek information from or refer patients to the Health improvement team.
+ To follow up returned recall letters, this may include correspondence with GP's to establish whether new contact details are permissible.
+ To provide sexual health information to patients over the telephone and to deal with the queries that may subsequently arise from these in a sensitive and empathic manner.
+ To code patient related episodes using KC60 identification codes to summarise overall activity or clinic interactions, using lab reports, clinician documentation.
+ To have a good understanding and working knowledge of STI's, prevention and safe sex issues and to further develop this knowledge through teaching, training and personal development.
+ To co-ordinate all external HIV referrals facilitating appointments with Health Care Professionals which will include Health Improvement team, Nurses and Doctors.
+ To actively undertake, in conjunction with the Health improvement team the process of audit to review and propose changes to local Health Advising policies.
+ To effectively use and manage IT systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Cyberlab, Excelicare, EPR, medical/GU Portal systems and notes tracking on a daily basis.
+ To develop and maintain effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, working in close co-operation for the benefit of patients in order to improve service delivery.
+ To provide administrative support for the Health improvement team. To include booking appointments and ensuring patient appointment letter/texts are sent as required.
+ To provide ADHOC administrative support as needed to clinical staff.
